Feeding the physical, as well as the spiritual needs is our salient ministry. Friends and members are extraordinarily faithful to the teachings of Jesus about feeding the hungry. Our faithful volunteers help others up against grinding poverty and expect nothing in return because there is a need to be filled and they fill it:
“For when I was hungry, you gave me food, when thirsty you gave me drink, when I was a stranger you took me into your home, when naked you clothed me, when I was ill you came to my help, when in prison you visited me.”
Breakfast Ministry
Every Thursday morning we serve approximately 200 hot meals for the poorest and most vulnerable in the lower east downtown Toronto. The doors open at 5:30 a.m. and remain open until 8:00 a.m. Hot food service begins at 6:00 a.m.
However, the Breakfast Programme will be closed for the holiday on Thursday, 26 December, 2024.
The Breakfast Programme will be open as usual on Thursday, 2 January, 2025.
Emergency Food Bank Ministry
Twice weekly, we help supplement the nutritional needs of low income singles and families in the Regent Park area with basic nourishment. The Food Bank is open Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
The Food Bank will be open as usual on Monday, 23 December, 2024, Monday, 30 December, 2024, and Thursday, 2 January, 2025.
However, the Food Bank will be closed for the holiday on Thursday, 26 December, 2024.
(Please note that the food bank is closed during July and August).
Donations are always welcome. They may be made to St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church, designated “Food Bank,” either by cheque or Interac e-transfer. Parishioners are also welcome to bring in non-perishable food items after Sunday services or during Food Bank hours. Please no peanut- or nut-containing products.
